Have you ever come to the mat with the intention of clearing your mind only to be bombarded by the voices in your head: «I'm hungry, What should I make for dinner? My back hurts, I'm not breathing. This is stupid. Focus. I’m not doing it right, I should be working/cleaning/studying»?
Introduction to Meditation will take the practitioner on a journey of awareness. We will explore practicing meditation from a place of the ever present, non-judging, non-commenting, always observing Witness. Experience the change in practice when the intention shifts from clearing the mind, to simply being present with what is. Whether this is a monkey mind filled with the chattering of thoughts or a quiet, still mind. Whether the body is tight and stiff or loose and eager to move. This workshop can offer an opportunity to develop an intention to come to the mat from wherever we are beginning from; leaving judgment and expectation aside. We will explore multiple techniques for meditation and use a blend of hatha and vinyasa yogas along with pranayama (breath work) to cultivate mindfulness, compassion and loving kindness.
