Interested in exploring your favorite poses and stretches from a new perspective? Curious about how a hammock can support your asana practice?
While Aerial Yoga is uniquely different than a traditional mat class, you can still expect to find the classic elements of any yoga practice: breathwork, alignment, and the philosophy of the energetic body. In a supportive and safe environment, we will explore the fundamental wraps of Aerial Yoga as well as how the hammock can be used for standing postures, inversions, restorative poses, and strengthening. We will also enjoy the therapeutic benefits of Aerial Yoga including:
-tractioning the spine
-non-weight bearing release
-alignment tools to make your asana practice more accessible
-deep relaxation while being entirely supported off the ground
This Level 1 class is designed for those looking to begin and develop their practice using a fabric hammock. Over six weeks we'll learn a variety of ways to get off the ground with an emphasis on comfort, confidence and support. No experience is required. If you were the kid who never wanted to leave the swingset at the playground then this class is for you! Students with an existing Aerial Yoga practice are welcome to attend as well and will be offered options to go deeper. New students will leave with the skills necessary to attend mixed level Aerial Yoga classes.
Class size is limited to six students. Give yourself the gift of a small batch, semi-private class and preregister early. This course will sell out!
$90 for six weeks, $20 to drop in.
Drop ins will be accepted only if space allows on a first come first serve basis. Signing up for yourself and a friend? Let us help! Email [email protected]
to register for more than one person. No BYV class passes or memberships accepted.
Maura Roth-Gormley, RYT 200, completed her VaihAyasa Aerial Yoga training with Heather Diamond. Maura originally began training in circus style Aerial Dance classes but quickly found that she craved a more therapeutic and compassionate practice to balance the rigors of Aerial Dance. For her, Aerial Yoga is the perfect marriage of the wisdom and alignment of yoga with the joy of being supported in the air. In addition to practicing and teaching Aerial Yoga, Maura teaches Vinyasa Yoga at Baltimore Yoga Village and continues to train in Aerial Dance with Kelly Jo Stull.
CANCELATION POLICY: Due to the small class size, we are unable to offer refunds, credits or make ups for cancelations made less than one week prior to the start of the six week course. Please contact the instructor with questions.
