This month, we welcome featured readers Henry Crawford and Susan Sonde. Your host is LindaJoy Burke.
Henry Crawford is a poet living and writing in the Washington, DC area. His work has appeared in several journals and online publications including Boulevard, Copper Nickel, Folio, Borderline Press and The Offbeat. He was a 2016 nominee for a Pushcart Prize for his poem “The City of Washington” appearing in District Lit. His first collection of poetry, American Software, was published in 2017 by CW Books. Susan Sonde's collections include: Inland Is Parenthetical (Dryad Press), In the Long Boat with Others (New Rivers Press, Winner of The Capricorn Book Award) and DRUMMING ON WATER, a chapbook(Finishing Line Press). Her poems have appeared in The Southern Humanities Review, The Mississippi Review, Epoch, Narrative Magazine online, The Writer's Digest, Northwest Review, Puerto del Sol, Southern Review, The Cimarron Review, American Letters and Commentary, and many others. Grants and Awards: The Maryland State Arts Council in poetry and fiction, The 2014 Narrative Poetry Award: a two-time finalist, The Gordon Barber Memorial Award from The Poetry Society of America, The Beulah Rose Poetry Prize, Residencies: Ragdale and The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She was a finalist for The National Poetry Series and was a Pushcart Prize nominee.
All are welcome. We encourage you to participate in the open mic. Please prepare no more than five minutes of performance time/two poems. Sign up in advance by calling the Columbia Arts Center, or when you arrive. The number is 410-730-0075.
Light refreshments will be served. Books by both featured authors and open mic readers wil be available for sale.
