As part of #LGBTQHealthAwarenessWeek, The LGBT Health Resource Center of Chase Brexton Health Care
is proud to be putting on their THIRD LGBTQ-focused Mammogram event! On Saturday, March 31st we will be partnering with American Radiology for Breast Fest 3.
We are taking over American Radiology's Fleet Street location for Lesbian, Same Gender Loving, Bisexual and Queer Women* for breast cancer screenings
Why do Lesbians and Bisexual women have a higher risk of breast cancer than Hetero ladies? Same Gender Loving women have “a dense cluster of risk factors,” according the National LGBT Cancer Network. A lack of health insurance, few welcoming providers, fear of discrimination, and bad past experiences are some of the barriers, but perhaps the biggest reason is that sexual minority women are far less likely to get the routine cancer screenings we need. Breast cancer is often treatable, but early detection is key.
Luckily, Chase Brexton cares about Lesbian health! Join us Saturday, March 31st for day of community, prizes, education, and refreshments while waiting your turn for the big squish that could save your life.
The day will include games, self breast exam demonstrations, arts and crafts, pampering stations, giveaways, refreshments, and breast health education while patients wait their turn for a breast cancer screening
Stay strong for the revolution, Sisters. GET YOURSELF A MAMMOGRAM.
