Explore what it takes to be successful on an urban farm! This workshop series features proven, essential components for ensuring farm viability.
Workshops are $10 per session or $60 for the whole series. Scholarships are available to help defray the cost of the workshops. To request a scholarship please email [email protected]

Session 3: June 14, 5-7pm: Accessing Land in Baltimore City
—We will start with a facilitated discussion for urban farmers about land access and land tenure challenges and opportunities. Then we will bring in a panel to enrich the discussion, including Maya Kosok, the urban farmer of Hillen Homestead; Abby Cocke,… from the Baltimore Office of Sustainability; and Becky Witt, from the Community Law Center.

Session 2: May 15, 4-7 pm: Soil Health & Weed Management
—Come to this hands-on, on-farm workshop to learn how to assess and improve your farm’s soil and hear tips about how to reduce weed pressure with speaker Dr. Andrew Ristvey, UMD Extension. Bring two cups of your soil or growth medium for a free pH and salinity test.
